Clothes Donation Drive Helps Families During Monsoon
The trust organized a successful clothes donation drive, providing essential clothing items to families affected by the early monsoon rains in the rural areas of Vasai. The initiative, which took place over two weeks, collected and distributed over 500 clothing items to families in need.
The early arrival of monsoon this year caught many families unprepared, particularly those living in temporary shelters or homes with inadequate roofing. Many lost their limited clothing to water damage or mold, creating an urgent need for replacement items.
Our volunteers collected donations from various residential societies in Vasai and Virar, focusing on practical items like sarees, shirts, trousers, children's clothing, and warm blankets. All donated items were sorted, cleaned, and packaged before distribution to ensure dignity and respect for the recipients.
The distribution was carried out in five villages, with priority given to single-parent households, families with young children, and elderly individuals. The response from the community was overwhelming, with many expressing heartfelt gratitude for the timely support.
"I lost most of my clothes when water entered our home during heavy rain. These new clothes will help me and my children get through the monsoon season," shared Lakshmi, a single mother of three from Vasai Gaon who received clothing for her family.
Beyond immediate relief, this initiative has highlighted the need for better housing solutions for vulnerable families during the monsoon season. The trust is now exploring partnerships with local construction companies to provide waterproofing solutions for homes in low-lying areas.
We thank all donors who contributed to this drive and our dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this initiative.
